Bus Lane Fine

Post by mafu26 »

Hello all,

Great forum :)

Last year during the first lockdown I had to drive into Manchester to collect some bits from the office. As all the usual parking restrictions were relaxed I had thought this applied to the bus lanes too. Sadly not! As it happened I had not updated my vehicle registration docs to reflect my new address, my fault. Thankfully the person in my old house found me on Facebook and sent on the post. Turns out I'm 12 months late for paying the fine and it's with Equita and there's a Bailiffs notice. I spoke with the council and was advised to send off PET 2 & 3 forms but they've just been refused. Its so frustrating as I was actually working myself to the bone for a MCR city council project during lockdown (not directly their staff) and now I'm lumped with this despite there being no traffic, no buses etc when I travelled.

Is there anything else I can do?

Many thanks for your help.

If the PE2 and 3 have been refused, then the bailiff cannot take an enforcement step until you have been given a.statutory Notice of Enforcement at your current address.

The bailiff will target your car. Unless its on hire purchase, its a sitting duck.

Protect your car for the next 12 months following the date of issue on the Warrant of Control. After 12 months, the enforcement power dies.

Hi everyone, many thanks for your replies.

If I make my wife the registered owner of the car does that mean they cannot take it?

No. They can still take it.

Here's how to protect your car.

Thank you Zeke.

I don't think any of those options are a possibility for me. Although I haven't received a new SoE for my current address I expect there will be one on its way soon. Seems I'm out of options.

Just keep your car on a neighbours driveway, bailiffs cannot touch it here - even if its in full view of the bailiff.

We don't have a driveway on my terrace unfortunately. It's on street parking.

It had to be said, if the bailiff finds the debtors car, they WILL take it.

Thanks for the honesty. I'll speak to Equita today to discuss payment. Thanks again for all the help, what you do is great.

Pay the council or TFL. Equita will mess you about. Here is more.
