Bailiffs and Coronavirus (Covid-19) regulations

Post by russelldurose »

Dear sirs

Due to the pandemic what is the current status of enforcement. I have not been able to make payments due to loss of income at this time.

Bailiffs were back on the streets from August 23 (statutory). Some advice agencies gives this date as August 26 (from guidelines).

Any Notice of Enforcement dated before 27 March 2019 and 24 September is extended by 12 months.

If the bailiff is collecting council tax or a court fine, after August 22 the bailiff must give 30 days notice instead of 7.

Some advice agencies and debt counselling websites say bailiffs are recommended not to enter homes, but I can't find that in the regulations. It might be a guideline that originated from a service bulletin which was not properly distributed to all stakeholders.

If you had a change of circumstances then there are remedies available to you. Have a look at this. https://stopthebailiffs.uk/stop-parking ... yflow.html

If the debt is council tax, then see https://stopthebailiffs.uk/stop-council ... ement.html
