Help to do with insurance claim and sending debt collectors

Hi long story short my ex boyfriend put a car and insurance in my mum name without her knowledge and put my email address for correspondence. Turns out he crashed the car and left the scene and hit another car that got written off.
They are now sending emails saying my mum owes 11 grand and I don’t no what to do
She don’t have a clue and is going to go mad
What can I do to solve this

Im not sure how bailiffs are involved in this, but you might want to contact police on the non-emergency 101 number and tell them what happened. It's a criminal offence (fraud) to obtain insurance in another person name.

Your mum doesn't need to reply to the emails, just hand them into police.

You can contact the IFB > https://www.insurancefraudbureau.org/ but you'll probably need to liaise directly with the insurance company and they should void the insurance. The third party can then pursue your ex. Make sure mum gets any reference removed from the database with the Motor Insurance Bureau otherwise her own premiums will rise.
