Magistrate Court After Debt Settled ??

Post by Snowflake »

I have also had the misfortune and displeasure of dealing with Marstons.
I finally settled the debt but at the end I seem to remember that they wanted me to go to the local Magistrates Court and get something stamped or signed.
I didn't do this, but I've often wondered what it was...it felt like a con or something along those lines.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Cheers for any answers to my vague question.

It's a section 14 stat dec, and they wanted to get you into court to kangaroo you into a reinstatement of the conviction and the court fine without allowing you to prepare a defence.

Follow this procedure to kill off the fine and the conviction. https://www.nationalbailiffadvice.uk/Co ... ation.html

Wow.
I thought it seemed fishy and just never went.
So if I had gone this would have started the whole thing again?
I didn't know it counted as a conviction and was actually unaware I'd even been required to pay a fine.

Did they expect you to travel all the way from Taiwan?

I haven't mentioned my location. Why do you feel the need to?

PM from Snowflake:
Why did you give my location?
How did you get this information?
Keep it on the open board. Just wondering why you're worried about enforcement that only has jurisdiction in England and Wales. Doesn't affect you where you are.

I post from the Philippines and it's still possible to get a Dart charge fine.

I expect Newlyn would still turn up at my house and clamp the car.

I don't believe there is any need to report posts either. You have a username for a reason and I also believe there are fair few people in Taiwan, so I highly doubt you can be traced, even assuming someone would want to.

Well, you are becoming what you hate. This is like dealing with Marstons. I've been nothing but polite.

What do I hate and where was I, or anyone else for that matter, not polite?

I'm sorry, yes, you are quite right you've been perfectly pleasant. Apologies for posting from another country and then querying why someone would sneakily check my IP- it's all exemplary and completely trustworthy. I see I was in the wrong.
