Hello everyone!
My former flatmate, who moved out three months ago have had an unpayed congestion charge of £11.50 from January this year. An agent from JBW came to my house a few days ago and claimed the dept have to be paid or he will start removing goods to cover it.
I told him, she's no longer a tenant in this house and I do not know her new address or any contact. The agent said it doesn't matter, since her car is still registered to this address. I never had to deal with anything like this before, therefore I had no idea of what my rights are or what to do. Eventually I ended up paying £558 to stop him removing anything from my house.
Can somebody please tell me if this was actually lawful, or can I make a complaint and claim my money back?
Thank you!

Re: Former flatmates dept
Its not lawful and you can get your money back.
You can do a chargeback: http://nationalbailiffadvice.uk/Chargeb ... liffs.html
Ask for a refund: Email the bailiff company with your bank details asking for a refund saying the debtor does not live at the address and set a deadline. If no money returned, then complete a form N1 and apply to the court for your money back together with your costs: Here is how: http://nationalbailiffadvice.uk/Made-to ... -Debt.html
Don't bother making a complaint. You will be fobbed off with excuses and be told to complain to another company masquerading as an industry regulator set up to make excuses for bailiff companies. http://nationalbailiffadvice.uk/Trade-A ... liffs.html

Re: Former flatmates dept
Thank you for your help, this is a great advise.
Only one question I have left. If I will manage to get back my money, how can I keep these people away? Is it enough if I remove her car from my address via dvla?

Once you get your money back, they will leave you alone.
